I’m a photo journalist, a stylist and a fashion commentator. I’ve worked for many of Ireland’s top publications including The Sunday Independent’s Life Magazine, The Sunday Business Post’s Agenda Magazine, The Irish Examiner, The Sunday World, TV Now, The Daily Mail and Stellar Magazine to name but a few. My Fashion Photography has shown up all over the web and over the last few years my work has been recognised and praised by top photographers and editors in Europe the US and China.
Over the last three or four years my professional passion has been to cover fashion weeks whenever I can. New York, London, Milan and Paris is where Pop meets Classic culture at its pinnacle. The shows that these designers and their crews spend six months perfecting each season, just so we can have 15 mins of pure fashion adrenalin hitting and flooding our senses are impossible to describe with words or images alone. But the correct mixture of both with passion, wit and finesse is my objective.
The streets are filled with beauty so when I’m out-and-about whether it’s New York, Dublin or Donegal I try to capture it and bring it to the public. Street Style is saying that “I’m connecting with something in this image, maybe you can too”.
I’m a lover of wisdom and chaos with a background in entertainment. I worked in and ran club nights in the UK all through the 90’s, first as a DJ and then as a Promoter. Music, dance and fashion have a perfect synergy between them. These are areas where we get to make statements about who we are. We can say what we like with fashion, we can mislead, we can alter people’s perception or we can actually change reality.
Fashion is constantly changing and adapting but style is immortal. I’ve traditionally seen fashion as fickle and frivolous but been obsessive about style. The Philosopher Robert Fullam once defined the word ‘fashionable’ to me as the ability to conform fastest and there lies the enigma of fashion. To conform isn’t very brave but if you appear to be the first to do something, you’re regarded as a trend setter. Style is not a science it’s an art which is not time sensitive.
Beauty is a cruel Mistress, which has led me over the years to become more involved in the fashion business. As a photographer and a stylist I’ve had an intimate look inside the world of professional beauty. There’s a lot of glamour on the outside of this frivolous world but hard work, tantrums and tiaras go into making these beautiful collections. For every successful designer there are thousands of failed ones but “C’est la vie”. Life is too serious to be taken seriously. Here on ‘icône du jour’ our frivolity knows no depth. I will look at style and fashion and try to tell the truth. Why I love it, why I hate it, why it is classic or disposable, the history, the future, the phenomenal and the unspeakable.
Occasionally my coverage will crossover into music, lifestyle, the visual arts, film and celebrity. If you have something to add, just leave a comment and Enjoy.
Yours in Style!

There once was a boy who was so enraptured by his own reflection he fell into the river and drowned. What was that boys name…..?
“…To conform isn’t very brave” you say. That is unless, of course, you happen to be a non-conformist : )
Nature made us individuals, as she did the flowers and the pebbles; but we are afraid to be peculiar, and so our society resembles a bag of marbles, or a string of mold candles. Why should we all dress after the same fashion? The frost never paints my windows twice alike. ~Lydia Maria Child
